160 t-stat or 180 t-stat

Less power & worse gas mileage, I really hope you have something to back that up, because i've experienced neither of those two problems running a 160* for the past few years. The truck once warmed up will still typically be in the 180 range.

Not about the less power, but the worse MPG I agree on.
Not too sure how the 4.8 & 5.3L react to the 160* stat, but my VHO's LQ9 6.0L sure lost 1 mpg on average after dumping the factory stat for the SLP 160* stat.
It just takes way too long for the engine to warm up. During warm up it uses a tad more gas than when the engine is at close to normal operating temps.
Once it completely warms up, it does fine.
My 1/4mi times was 1/10th better after the 160* stat install. Could have just been a better run, but I didn't lose any 1/4mi time.
If I did it over, I would find out were to get a 170* stat.
A member here posted about finding one from somewhere, and it worked great for him.
Guess you would just need to do a little bit of research on it.

If I lost any gas milage it was slight. I went from stock 187 (ran 194) to a 160 (runs 172 now) I am running a tad more timing now and feels stronger all around. I'll keep an eye on my milage though...
