That's a good point too and as we all know trucks were definitely not built to get good gas mileage. I guess throwing in a cam and superchargers stuff like that doesn't help either but who wants to leave their trucks stock no fun in that.

Yeah, I don't have any time slips or dyno numbers to prove that it is running worse with the 160 but it feels like it is to me. I think I also have some damn tuning issues as well. As far as getting into motors and **** like that I am damn good at but I am tuning illiterate.

I lost close to 2 mpg with the 160, didn't really notice any loss in mpg from the 180 and yes my pcm was programmed for the 160 stat at the time

Not too sure if you would want to or not like rcfast stated he lost about 2 mpg and his PCM was programmed for a 160. There seems to be some contraversy over running a 160 I don't know what to think about it at this point. I know I am going to go back to my stock t-stat and see what happens to my mileage cause it really blows now.

The only reason my truck doesnt have one is because i heard you need to have a certain heat range with alum heads to get a deposit free burn. Things like the TB-bypass or anything realy that cools intake air will not effect it but something like a t-stat actualy dictates operating temps of the engine and thats where you lose mpg and create problems like carbon buildup. Being from anywhere north of the mason-dixon would not ever need a low temp thermo. Only places like florida, arizona and the like where you sit in traffic in 120 degree heat because the coolant temp creeps up to 200ish anyways....
