Default 1984 350 with vortec heads

My blazer has a rebuilt 350 in it that's been bored 60 over with an RV cam and flat tappet. I've got a set of vortec heads from a 97 half ton Chevy sitting around. Would it be worth it in terms of power to have the heads gone through (decked, new valve guides, cleaned up) and install them? Truck is running an Edelbrock carb and soon long tube headers. I know I'll need self aligning rockers or guide plates for the pushrods and screw in rocker studs and a new intake manifold that matches the vortec bolt pattern. Thoughts?

Since most likely older people would know the most about your engine, why did you make you post so old-eye unfriendly (hard to see)? I'm not going to add an "lol" or any smiley faces, because I'm serious

I just noticed that. I did not do that on purpose. I'm 34 and have had Lasik and I can barely read that. Let me fix that.

Yes, the Vortec heads will work great. I wouldn't worry about changing the studs. Just get a set of self aligning rockers and you will be fine un less you plan on running some killer springs.

Those heads are about the best you can get outside of buying aftermarket.

They are a good budget head for most street builds. Plus depending what pistons you have you will get a nice compression bump if your current heads are some smog trash like 882's or 624's. That kidney shaped chamber is in almost every aftermarket Chevy small block head you can buy... even my 210 afrs are the fast burn style chamber. Screw in studs are nice but unless the springs are really stiff unneccessary lol.

Wasn't planning to run heavy springs at first but maybe later down the road. The cam specs for what's in there (best I can find I should say) are pretty mild:

RPM range: 800-4200
duration: @ 0.050" 206/212
Lift w/ 1.5 rocker: .425/.440
LSA: 108*

the vortec heads are a great head for a bump in performance, you could run a lt1 cam (if you have a roller engine) and get an awesome street engine for relatively cheap

That cam is tiny.. for all intents an OEM replacement cam for any carb 350.. it even works fine with stock TBI stuff. Guys call that an "rv" cam. The stock vortec springs if in good shape are plenty for that.

It is the RV cam that's in it. And I was just coming here to ask if I even needed springs for this small of cam.
