Had one let loose on us the other day.....damn near shat my pants.
You guys need to remember these things are not breaking from "power" they are breaking from speed. GM did not make a faulty part, it made a drive shaft that works great for a truck that goes max 105 speed limited. These are trucks not vettes.

sure it can work if balanced.....I took my alum d/s out and went with steel. Stronger and higher critical speed.

I called Denny's and they recomended a Hd Aluminum DS. Aluminum should feel softer than steel because of the weight diff. I'm getting mine soon....waiting to try it out and see how it feels.

I think i might give Denny's a call.Woudn't a almuinum shaft be lighter as well netting a little more hp to the rear wheels....ethier way i don't want to race my buddies GT and end up havin the stock shaft fly out at 135 or more.....

Just like what blown said, it's not the power of your vehicle or your weight. It's the speed at which any impalance pushes it over the edge & probably a little bit of what they call burst speed. The speed at which a rotating disk just breaks apart. Probably more of the imbalance but still. Looking at Denny's site it looks like they make AL's that will hold up, but have to call on Monday. Pisser if I have to get a full trans because my DS grenaded. What are ya gonna do, right?
