2 ?'s about my truck
I have a 2000 sb gmc z71 5.3 auto... well i am wondering how to find out wich gear is in it? is there a code in the glove box? Also i'm going to re-program it eventually...i am wondering can you tell if the truck has already been reprogramed? i know about the speed limiter but i havent tested it out to see if it shuts off yet.. but i was wonderng when i hook it up to the programer will it say or not if it has already had things done.1 more question any of yall runnin synthetics...oil,tranny,rear? is it worth the extra $$ or should i stick to what the dealership puts in it? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Since it is a Z71 it is probably a 3.73 locker. Most people take of the programmer before trading in their truck, so your's is probably stock. I would use some synthetic oil in the motor and differential, but I heard bad things about synthetic transmission fluid. Got any pics of your truck? Any mods yet?

Your trucks computer probably is stock, here's a quick test. Do a 0-90 run, stock shifts from first for a 2000 truck is 5600, 2nd & 3rd is 5200. You'll be in 3rd at 90, check the shift points. I use all synthetics in my truck, Mobil 1 5w-30 every 3,000 miles.
