Just purchased a 424,xxx mile 2000 RCSB Silverado. 4.8/Auto. Oil pressure is very low, smokes pretty bad, and it has no overdrive. The truck is fairly clean and is just going to be shop truck for by business. Looking to pick up a lower mile wrecked Silverado, Tahoe, suburban or avalanche from a friend in the salvage business. really don't care if its another 4.8 or a 5.3 that goes back. I just want to go back bone stock other than general maintenance items. My question is what years will work and go right back in without any wiring issues and not having to retune?
Thanks for any info or help!

For a direct drop in and go you'd need another 4.8 from 99-06.
If you bought a 5.3 from those same years, you'd either need the 5.3 computer from 99-02 tuned to run it with the security system turned off or you would have to tune your 4.8 computer to run the 5.3 motor.
If you bought a drive by wire motor from 03-06 you would just use your cable throttle body and stuff from the 4.8.
