As near as I can tell during removal, the dipstick broke and fell inside the hole it mounts in. Tried to insert an easy-out, I recovered the red o ring seal and the balance of the tube in the hole went to the bottom?

I'm locating a flex magnet I can fish in the pan drain and see if I can coax it to the opening and get it out.

Did the piece of the tube fall all the way to the bottom of the pan sump??

I'd forget about it. Yes, it should be in the pan but it won't cause any problems (unless it impinges upon installation of a new dipstick tube)
