Default 2001 Tahoe 2wd 5.3ltr SES light-P0453

Pulled code PO453. Possible causes per autozone are:

Fuel Tank Sensor defective
Check connector and wiring
Check hoses and fittings

Local shop just replaced the fuel pump last week. They are saying that now it is probably the charcoal canister or some bs. any input on this code and what the true causes and solutions are?

Mine threw the same code last week. It was my gas cap. I just took it off a screwed it back on making sure it was tight and the code went off before I got home. You may give it a try..

After googling for the last 30 mins I see some mention of possibly being a canister purge solenoid

p0443 is most likely a evap purge solenoid. they have problems with dust and dirt getting inside and causing them not to opporate correctly. the dealer sells a revised part that has an external filter that is routed up by the transmission bellhousing to fix the problem.

im sorry man i was thinking p0443 but you said p0453. looks like you have a tank pressure sensor code its possible it didnt get plugged up correctly or wires got pinched during the reinstall if not i would say it needs a fuel tank pressure sensor. sorry about the mix up.

How audible should the new fuel pump be? I am starting to think that they only replaced the pump itself with a generic Walbro pump; and not the whole drop in assembly which includes a new sensor.

yes sometimes they are loud. i have installed aftermarket pumps that are more audible than the factory pump. its possible they installed a generic pump but not likely. its possible the new pressure sensor is bad. its hard to trust some aftermarket parts. i would have bought a gm pump. just my .02 cents
