Default 2003 1500 frame change from previous year?

Does anyone know if GM changed the 1500 (HD if it matters) frame in 2003? I started the install of a ProCharger intercooler, and found that the supplied brackets don’t work. The front brackets are made to bolt to a hole near the front edge of the frame, where the tow hooks are attached. The installation pictures show a frame style where the end is cut off at a straight 90 degree angle… mine is cut at an angle, and the area where the needed hole would be is missing.

I am trying to figure my 2003 is different because it is a “HD” model, or if all 1500’s are this way. My understanding was that the 1500HD uses the exact same frame as all the other ½-ton pickups.

I will attach some pics…

I took a picture of a 2004 tahoe. It has the same frame as shown in the ProCharger instructions, note the smaller hole close to the front, with the blue dot next to it.... this is the hole needed for the intecooler bracket.

The 2003 1500HD is a little different... and is missing the hole.

Alot of people don't know this still but, the 1500HD is the same as a 2500 series truck. It does not have the same frame as a standard 1500.

It actually is a 2500 series truck except for the 1500HD badge.

I agree that the 1500HD is the same as the 2500.

The way I understand it, GM uses two truck frames for their pickups.
1- light duty frame: used on 1500 series, and 2500 (non-HD)
2- heavy duty frame: used on 2500HD and 3500 series

The 1500HD and 2500 have the bigger brakes, transmission, suspension parts, etc, but still use the smaller frame.

The 1500, 1500HD, and 2500 all use the same frame.

right?

I might need to go look at a 2003 model 1500 (non-HD) to see if it is any different than what I have... I just want to be able to tell ProCharger which brackets to send me.

The 1500, 1500HD, and 2500 all use the same frame.

right?
Nope.

The 1500HD uses the 2500HD frame. It is the same trust me, I've seen both in person. I believe the regular 2500 also uses the beefier frame but, I've never actually looked at a non-HD 2500.

was that a miss type or something? or maybe i just understood it all wrong.

the 1500hd and 2500 use the same frame but definately not the 2500hd. the 2500hd frame is prety beefy.

i think the question here is where does the std 1500 fit in? does it have the same frame as the 1500hd/2500 or have it's own frame making 3 diferent frames?

OK, I think there is only two frames. I'm almost positive of this.

The 1500 frame is the little frame. I don't think the standard 2500 uses this frame but, I have never seen one so I can't comment on that.

The 1500HD frame is the same as the 2500HD. I have seen both, they're the same. It's taller by about 2" and wider than the standard 1500 also if I remember correctly.

I don't think there is a third frame just for the standard 2500 series.

Summary

1500 = little frame
1500HD/2500HD = Big frame
2500 = I think Big frame also
I don't think there are three frames.

let me shed some light here

there are way more than 3 frames, not just in height, but in the thickness off metal used as well.
for the purposes of this thread there are 3 different frames

1500series
1500HD/2500
2500HD
