2005 5.3 timing chain?

Default 2005 5.3 timing chain?

i read somewhere that a 2005 5.3 already has a LS2 style timing chain is this true? I am putting this motor in an S-10 and havent even got the timing cover off yet so I dont know how the chain looks. the motor has 60 k miles so im told

Yes it is true. 05 and up have ls2 chains in them.

so as long as mine looks good and seems to be tight then i should be ok?

at 60,000 I went ahead and changed mine out while I was doing the cam swap. Maybe it didn't need it, but i was in there anyway.

Get the IWIS chain. Much better than the OE.

so you had a ls2 stock right? then replaced it with another ls2 when u did the cam swap? asking bc im hoping to do a swap soon and figured i might as well replace chain at same time. about 62xxx mi right now

Yet another item I missed out on on my '04 model. That, & efans from factory. We're good now tho on the efans, & soon the timing chain too.

I knew LPE used the IWIS, & I think Katech uses that chain too.
You think that you got ripped...I have a 99, my truck didn't even come with decent injectors lol.
