you could v8 swap it for way less than a blower or a turbo.

 

I currently have a 06 Sierra Z71 that is coming off lease. I am going with a regular cab WT with the v6 because of have cheap it is. I have found one that i can get for 18k out the door while pocketing 7k worth of rebates. If i could find a 4.8 WT for 19k out the door while still pocketing my 7k in rebates then i would do that. I am trying to go as cheap as possible because i am finishing up college and may be going for my phd in accounting. I could use the 7k in rebates that i am getting to buy something nicer but i really want to pocket the cash from them.

I know you can put a turbo on anything but i have never taken on that kind of task before. I use to have a fully built 92 mustang with a 347 stroker so I am no stranger to building performance vehicles but i don't know anything about building a turbo set up. I don't think it would be too difficult but I would need to find someone who can tune the 4.3L.

It'll take every bit of that 7k to put a turbo on and then your stuck at the power of a slightly modified v8 that would have been cheaper.

I just found a 6.0 for $400 oil pan to intake. just look around (craigslist, ebay) u just gotta be patient

 

The 4.8 option is under $1k. I don't see why you couldn't find the same deal for a $1k more.

 

When you buy the 4.3 to save money, then want to add performance parts..just doesn't make sense..

 

my brother bought an 08 4.3 w/t for around $14.4K out the door, it runs decent already but i think hes going to have it tuned and do visual mods to it until his warranty is up.

 

eh, I'd go for broke and have one shipped with a 6.0

 

if you already bought the 43 truck i would just not touch been there too much money for not enough return i did get 2 or 3 more miles to the gallon with a filter and a muffler
