2010 6.2L CC Stock Exhaust ?
I am trying to figure out what the thing directly after the "cat-back flange" on the stock exhaust pipe is.
It is probably 5 or so inches in diameter, approx 12 inches long, wrapped in a kind of wire mesh and when I look through it, the pipe beneath the mesh seems to some sort of flex pipe.?.?.?
Sorry.... no pic.....
Can anyone shed some light? I am going to be putting in a spintech superpro muffler and deleting the resonator. I'm trying to figure out if this is another cat or if I can delete it without any flack from the dealer later on. (they have always told me anything before the Throttle body and after the cats and you will have no warranty voiding issues)
Is this just a straight through flex pipe to allow for the frame to flex (the only thing I could really come up with because it does not look like a cat to me)??????
Or is it another catalytic converter.....? (i'm leaning toward no on this one)
Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!

if its directly after the y pipe goin into the single out then its a flex pipe basically help the exhaust flex and helps to keep you from breaking or bending piping or your headers or manifolds... i would keep it so when your motor twists so does the exhaust so there for if your have the flex pipe it wont put strain on your catback supports or eventually break them and have exhaust bangin around!!!!
oh and the resonator is after the muffler over the axle incase you didnt kno.. on my truck i cut the resonator out put pipe back where it was and replaced the stock muffler with a big body magnaflow not to loud but not to quiet.. everbody has there taste tho good luck with mods hope i was some help
