Default 208/216 Cam is in

I had my Crane Cam 208/216-.530/.530 lift @ 113LSA with the Thunder Racing Pushrods and 2002 LS6 Springs.

I've lost alot of low-end torque , going to have to put a stall in. I think when I get some tuning it will run good. It keeps wanting to die on me when I go real slow around a corner and then it kinda jumps up. At idle it keeps moving back and forth between 300 and 600rpms. It's a hot day today so I couldn't tell a whole lot of difference. It seemed to pull harders. Its suppose to be cool tonight, so I'll let ya'll know how good it runs. It really starts to pull at the stock rev limiter. It seems to launch better at half-throttle from a stand still.

Call TBYRNE quick the 10 percent off is almost over.Seriously get the Yank convertor you won't be dissappointed, with some sticky tires and a Yank 3000 you will be well into the 14s.

hmm, urs is surging from 300-600? when i put mine in even with stock idle it wouldnt surge, turning it on on a cold start you would have to give it gas occasionally though but it would level out. after that it drove fine. and this is with a 218/219 in a 4.8

now that my idle is raised there are pretty much no idle problems at all.

but yes go get a torque converter, 3000 or even 3200, you wont regret it. also start looking into ls1 edit tuning for that, you wont regret it

It will take a while for the computer to get use to it. Just drive it a while. My truck lost a bunch of low end as well. I put in a 216/220 526/532 on 114 in and my computer is just now starting to act better. I wish my damn tuner would get back because diablo {PDQ} is installing a program for my cam and what not. The thing that helped it the most was ditching the CATS. It starts all the time now with no problems. Mine starts better cold with my cam. When it warms is when i had my problems. Just give your "baby" a little time to get use to it. If you miss out on Tybrne, Kev " MrMix " sells yank stalls and will make you a hell of a deal on one. Good luck and dont Remember it is a little sick right now and needs a bit of time. Did you have any valve train noise?

Didn't anyone read my posts about that crane cam having lazy lobes. That 208/216 cam has more advertized duration than the comp 216/220 cam. It sounds like its the same cam the other crane, just with more lift. But that isn't the case. It opens sooner and closes later than the other cams (causing more overlap). This will make it move the power band up the rpm range, and drop low end torque. The comp cams have more aggressive lobes and won't drop as much torque for the same .050 duration.

I've fixed most of my problem with the cam! I took the JET PCM off tonight and it made a very noticible difference. I'm still having idle problems, but its not dying on me at stopsigns like it did with the jet pcm.

When I took it off, I rode around my neighborhood to see if it would still die aroung corners=nope.
Then, I decided to take it out on the highway, it pulled hardddd. Low and high rpms. I am very satisfied. Just needs some tuning.

RED2K: I'm having the same problem, when the engine was cool, it really didn't have any problems, when it gets hot it starts wanting to bottom-out.

Also, I think i'm running way too rich. I'm smelling alot of gas from the exhaust.

The .530 lift cam has a much larger advertized duration at .006 lift. That means it starts opening earlier and closes later. Even though it has smaller .050 lift numbers, the valves are open longer than the larger comp cam.

right on 99silveradoSS, with tuning it gets even better. I noticed with a cam swap, even my small cam, moving the rev limiter and shifts up helps big time in performance gains. Mainly because that is where all of the new power is made. 3500-about6200+ rpms.

Big Tex: are you saying that the Crane 208/216 .500/.500 113lsa cam has different lobes than the Crane 208/216 .530/.530 113lsa cam? Does the .500 lift Crane cam have faser ramp rates than the .530 lift Crane cam even though they are of same duration

Good news! I took my truck back to where I had the cam installed and I told him what was happening. (It started dying again when I was stopped even after I took off the JET PCM). He messed with the butterfly in the throttle-body and it still idles low at 500 but doesn't go below it and so far it hasn't died on me and I've drove it around for about an hour so far.

Before he messed with my butterfly in my throttlebody it was running very rich, especially at idle. When he fixed the problem with the idle, I was getting on interstate and punched it at 30 mph, . It pulled very hard, I've got my low end torque back, it feels like I've gained alot also. It feels like a totally different truck. I love this cam! I plan on getting it dyno tuned soon after I get my headers. Sorry for the long post.
