Default 20's and mpg?

A friend of mine let me borrow his wheels and tires to see if I wanted to buy his 20's. I like the wheels they are the same diameter as my stock wheels/tires but I think they may weigh a little more. Looking at my avg mpg I went from 17 to 15 mpg how much weight would cause that much of a drop. If I had a scale I would weigh them.

Are there any light weight 20's that I could get?

My 20's jumped up my weight by about 16lbs each rim/tire.
They do have light weight rims but they are pricey.
billit rims is what your looking for.

Its not the weight that brings the mpg down. bigger rims only offer better performance on the freeways. Smaller rims are better for street driving.

You would see better MPG on the freeway with larger rims, but worse on the street, and vice versa.

This why i saw 35-40 mpg on my Cobalt with 18's and my friends see 32 -35 in there Ions Redline with 17's driving on the freeways.
Now these cars are the same, but the ions come with 17's and would always accelerate faster then the cobalts.

thats one of the reasons i got rid of my 20s. granted the chrome was nice. but after i sold em' my truck seemed a lil more fun to drive. i do plan on getting chrome SS wheels one day. but being on these 17s lets me play a lil more.

I think that's a little off. The best mpg I got on the hwy was 17.5 and that was going 65-70 mph on flat ground to slight down hill driving. If I had to go up hills or pass it would drop at least .5 or more. When I had my stock combo on it got 19.5-20 mpg on the hwy and I have a Z71.
