Would this be a good cam for my 5.3 truck with basic boltons(exhaust, asp pullies etc). I will be adding asm or tog headers afterwards and that will be the extent of my mods.
Would you get one with 3k miles on it?

It's a pretty nice mild street cam. I'd say you will pick up 18-25rwhp easily it. It still has lots of vac for idle and brakes too.

 

I picked up just over 30whp with this cam in my 4.8.

But the li'l 4.8 just didn't have enough cubes to compensate for the low end torque loss. Again, just my opinion.

My truck has a nice, mild cam sound and I have no issue with the brakes, and only mild tuning issues that I could easily have gotten over with EDIT.

When the LS1 goes in, I'll have this cam up for sale. Do you think you might be interested? It will probably be within the next 3-4 weeks.

 

You might loose a little torque, I bet it pulls very hard up top though. Get a stall with it and hold on!

 

I'm sure that someone will tell you to put a 220-something/.550 something/ cam on a 106 LSA, but if you don't want to sacrifice ANY streetability and still make good power, I think that this would be an awesome choice!

I believe that Thunder put this cam in a 5.3 and got something in the neighborhood of 32hp, and no tuning was needed. I searched for the thread, but it looks like it's gone.

Its a good cam and a good price for it. You can use LS6 springs with it.

 

Scream I may be interested in the cam for my 5.3.. I do a lot of interstate driving and i dont want my truck to drive like crap on the interstate or around town. That is my main concern

 

Very true. This problem was made even worse by the already puny torque of the 4.8. I gained 30hp, and only 10 lb-ft of torque. A converter, LT's and some gear would have helped, but still not enough IMO.
