216/218 cam going in as we speak
so, i took the truck down to the shop earlier to change the oil and i saw that LS6 cam and springs sittin there, and i decided to do a cam swap, so i have everything stripped down, just need to change the springs and cam. well anyways, i was sittin there workin and i remembered my friend still had my old 216/218 .535/.535 cam so i went and got it and it's goin in. i have a few questions about doing the springs though, i hooked the compressor up to the #2 piston(front one on passanger side) and it made a weird sound, is this normal, it sounded like air leaking or something, i'm sure it's fine but not 100% ballsy enough to go ahead, anyways...it should be fun with that and the new exhaust and the wet kit that should be here anyday now...hehehe anyone of you DFW boys that want to come by tomorrow night or wednesday anytime are free to just gimme a call i need some help with a few things that i've never done before, not that hard, just like the peace of mind of having someone that's done it be there to help. 817-821-1390, if you want gimme a call. thanks for readin guys, later.

Matt - just a idea since you are doing it alone, wrap some tape around the top of the valve so it doesnty drop on you if your worried about not enough air pressure. What I mean it wrap some tape around the top a few time so it is too big to fall through. If you keeping the air pressure high then you should be fine

i think the pressure is around 80PSI is that about right? how would i get tape around the valves with the springs on there, and how would i get it off with the new springs on? i hate tedious work like this.

one other thing, i am using the 01 LS6 valve springs, they are rated at .528" lift right? so will running .535" lift on them hurt anything, i don't have any programming and redline is stock so it shouldn't be a problem right?????
