I just read in How to Build A HP LS1 were i believe they tested the same spec cam in a 5.3 and there was a 30 hp increase, not sure about torque. I do not have the book right now to verify. If no one has coomented on it by tomorrow, I post again with better info.

Hey... I'm going to get the same spec Comp cam as soon as I can offload my programmer on ebay. My gearhead that'll install it has that cam. Don't remember what engine (5.3 or 6.0) he has it in, but I think I remember him saying about 25 - 30 hp increase.

Somebody post some facts for us! I'll call my gearhead tomorrow to ask if he dyno'd it. I'll post if he did.

I had that cam in my 04 Crew Cab. I did the install at the same time as my long tube headers and with the headers and cam I gained a total of 42 horses, and that was with a sorry tune. Never dyno'd it after I got a better tune, but I'd say probably another 10 horse. I hope you have an aftermarket torque converter in your truck though. If not, your not going to like the results much. I was running a hughes 2500 rpm converter and it was borderline just enough. I really could have used at least a 3000-3200 for best results.

Oh and as far as torque, it will most likely stay about the same. My before and after dynos showed no increase in torque after the cam but no loss either.

devil...

That's my 86 C10. Build it right. Ya'll got me hooked on this custom stuff! Saw a clip of a 2000&up Silv from SpeedEngineering, and was like a kid in a candy store.

Drove it ('86 C10) to work today with no problems. It sat for two weeks, with pollen all over it. Had to detail it, and drive it today. Looking to get that cam & springs sometime next week. Need to hook up wit ya to hand over. Let me know when you have time. Would like to see install. Gonna post pics and steps for CTW and my future website. Holla!

Off topic, but I completely missed the boat, when did you get rid of the crew? and Hows the l33?

Anyways, as far as cams go I am reluctant to consider one because of torque issue. If I can find one that does not hurt my low end I will be extactic. I have yet to see dyno charts that prove no torque loss, just suggestions. I need all the torque I can get for towing.

the vhp 210/218 is a ultra tq cam supposedly... its the one I have going in mine here shortly. Im not getting a stall for my 4x4 so thats why i went with that cam. Supposedly awesome LOW END! Anything bigger like a 216/220 is gonna loose low end but make good upper end power in a HEAVY truck.

if you are a RCSB 2wheel drive then its different since low end wouldnt be hurt to bad

Check out Vinci's website like 98TAuto mentioned, they have a bunch of grinds intended just for trucks and torque. The cam listed in my sig is mild and torquey also. NakedAV has a Cam Motion grind that he's been very happy with too, 205/212 .548/.540 114+4. Both mine and Naked's work great with the factory stall.
