Does anyone know if a 228 cam is to big for a 5.3? And what upgrades could i do to make more power out of it? I already have longtubes, 220 cam, and 150 shot.. thanks

If possible....I'd do a bigger cam rather than putting a bigger cam in a 5.3

gears? also , what intake are you using ?
I would recomend a nitrous friendly cam insted of the 228/228 , you could drive it with that cam , some are running larger with that kind of stall .

You can run a 239/246 cam in a 5.3, but should you? Just because you can, don't mean you should.

Thats a big cam for a 3.5. I know people that felt their 3600 converter left something to be desired with a 222/226 in a 5.3... just saying.

I wouldnt go that big, but thats me.

3.42's i have a spectre intake..what size you think?i was running 8.18 in the 1/8th with the 4l60 with no stall..in all honesty i need about a 3200 stall bc the nitrous blows through it

It would work ok but you would prob turn a better time at the track with something in the lower 220's like you have. A 220 cam is hard to beat in the 5.3L. Id want at least 4200 rpm flash with the 228 cam. On n20 the instant tq would prob fix it. Something like a Custom Isky 221/227/112 would work a little better with that combo IMO. The short split will help with the n20 and not kill the NA tq like a dedicated n20 cam.
