Default 241's on a 5.3 * Need help quick!*

I am doing a cam and head swap for various reasons on my truck this weekend and i have a set of 241 heads and an ls1 cam that i will be installing in place of the stock parts. My question is should i get my 241s milled down 0.030" to get compression back up since thats what im reading i would need to do or will they be ok? also, should i use the old lifters for the ls1 cam or get new ones? they have about 90k on them. I will be using the stock truck intake also. Im not looking for massive gains, just better over stock. Any help would be appreciated, getting everything together and must do the swap this weekend. so machining must be done by friday

take the ls1 valves and have them installed in 5.3 heads with valve/port job and a mill. the only stock cam you should be looking for is the ls6 cam and even then it will have minimal gains in a NA application. look into an aftermarket grind imo

Well I only have a small amount of time and dont have alot of money to do a bunch of machining on my 5.3 heads.... basically i will be swapping them over cuz i only have 2 days to not have my truck running or else i would do it. I would like to find an ls6 cam but have limited time to find it.

these 241 heads only have about 30k on them and have 243 springs and i bought them for very cheap. My 5.3 heads have a broken header bolt in them and i wont have time to drill and tap it once pulled so thats the reason for the change over. I plan to probably just sell those heads after the swap is done. Like I said, not looking to gain a bunch of power, just something better then stock to go with a tune i will be getting.

well now I will be getting a different cam very close to a z06 cam, dont have the specs off the top of my head but purchasing from one of the best vehicle tuners around the area. curious as to why you think it will run worse? or am i not going about doing this correctly? i figure milling the heads to get the combustion back to normal and a slightly better cam and a tune wouldnt hurt its performance

i say it will run like crap and be lazy
WHY? 241 head has a 66.67cc chamber the stock 706/862 has a 61.15cc chamber
You gonna loose compression you better cut them to max

planning to cut them to 0.040" which my tuner says should get me back close to where I need to be. also running a better cam then the ls1 along with 918 springs and ls7 lifters. Waiting to get the specs on the cam but much better then the stock 5.3 and an ls2 timing chain. Another question I have is apprently you have to use a certain head gasket when running the 5.3 block and ls1 heads or else it leaks oil? any ideas on this?
