"gears" differential ring & pinion....I may be wrong since i don't know alot about how a 5 speed truck runs through the 1/4 mile... but i would think a set of 3:73 would help your times...but again im not sure what a 5 speed truck comes stock with...you may even could run 4:10's..my truck came with 3:23's

Don't waste your money IMO. I have stock #243s, milled .020'' on my 5.3 and I'm pretty positive that I gained zilch to very little at all.

i got some good gains with my 243's on my ls1

guys on tech only see 15 hp swapping on stock 243's...its not worth the pita of swapping heads for such small gains IMO. heads should be one of your last mods IMO.

Cool.... i appreciate all the help, too i just talked to a guy on the phone, and he said, that since i eventually want to put a 6.0 in my truck, that i should just have the stock heads worked on, and he could get some pretty good horsepower out of them...Its not woth the money of buying the 243's, then get valve work done on them.... So i think i'm just going to stick with my stock heads.

OOO, umm ya currently the gears in the rear end are 3:73's, but its not going to be a 5 speed much longer, i just bought a T56 and am going to be installing that soone, so i think i'm going to go with 4:10's to help the bottom end out, and since its six speeds i'll still beable to cruise at 75 - 80 on the freeway without tacking my motor too high.

All the new trucks 07+ come with the 243 heads. My 07 4.8 has them and runs great with them. But like TXSilverado said, they're probably not worth more than 15-20 HP. I'm pretty sure thats where the new trucks are picking up the extra 15-20 HP in stock form.

Well of course bigger heads aren't going to give you gains on a small motor running a conservative camshaft/intake/exhaust. You want bigger heads on motors that are larger in displacement with larger cams and exhaust. combo combo combo

Well, I had a 220/220 .630''/.630'' cam, with long tube headers and 2.5'' dual exhaust.
