i just got me a hold of some 243's with 918 springs in em already how much should i mill these for my 5.3 with stock head gasket and wat size pushrods will i need the cam that i have is a 224/224 .581 .581 112

If you mill them .035" your combustion chamber sz will be around 59CC, I used hardened stock length push rods but used .030" shims on the rocker arm pedestal bosses given me the correct lifter pre-load. ...The shim kit cam with .030" & .060" so you actualy could shim up to .090"....but if you wanted to just go with .025 shorter push rods you probably will be ok.....BUT it's always best to get a push rod lenght checker...

my 243's were milled .040 with a tr220 and i used 7.4 pushrods.

My 243s were milled .055 and they measured out at 57cc.

I got the same heads and they weren't milled but they were surfaced the guy who did it didn't take much off he said not even .020

truckshop- did you use stock thickness head gaskets?

yes i did. stock 5.7 gaskets to be exact.

so i would need 5.7 gaskets instead of 5.3 gaskets?

no i just had access to free gaskets so i used them!!
