Default 2500 HD 4x4 Advice sought

Just got my 2003 Silverado 2500 HD 4x4. Got about 14000 miles on it. Thrilled with the truck so far. One thing that sort of concerns me is that when I am making a turn from a stop, the rear end has a slight dragging sound. I asked about it at the dealer and they said to service the rear end. I did so and it appears to be better but still present. Does anyone know if this is normal ?? Wanted to ask on this site (so I could get the real scoop) before I went back to the dealer.

Do you have the locking rear differential? Option code G80 on the option code sticker in the glove box. You likely do and it could be it is engaging a bit when you are going around turns because one wheel is travelling a longer distance than the other. When there is a speed diffence between the rear wheels the locker will start to engage causing the wheel going the longer distance to drag a little. Not sure if this is it but it is a possibility.

If this is the case, is it a problem that the dealer needs to fix or is just the nature of the truck.

For the previous post, it sounds like the rear end.

When you serviced the diff did you notice any problems? Did you take the cover off and have a look? If everything looked good and if you but the the proper 75W90 GM synthetic gear lube in ( or equivalent) then it should be OK. Have you serviced the transfer case and front diff as well? If you have the Auto-Trac transfer case with the Auto 4X4 button on top ( 4 button control) then the front axle turns all the time as well and it could be in the transfer case but more likely just the G80 engaging which is normal and does not require service.
