This is making me want to put in a bung and measure cutout open vs cutout closed.

Shoot I would. Have a bung put in anyway since it's cheap and you'll always like having it just in case.

I want to hear the results if so. Have you seen Magnaflow's 4" system for 6.2's? It sounds good and isn't too loud. About $700 ish. turn key. I realize we could probably piece it together cheaper but my time is worth too much to jack around a bunch. Only thing is I'm not positive it doesn't neck down inside.

I might as well have a bung welded for science. Then we will know how bad Big Honkey is.

That 4" kit looks nice. Someone will have to call Magnaflow and see what part number the muffler is. Someone on here said they bought a big case 4" Magnaflow and it necked down to 3 or 3.5.

so... how do you plan on fitting resonators in the y-pipe again?
i know my 3" crossover has about 1/8" of clearance under the nv4500 pan & rolls right into the merge after a few more inches... unless you're replacing some tiny "fake cat" resonators between the O2 bungs.

as for the sizing, i know i'm a bit late to the party, but my vote was also for the 3" front side Ying into single 4" the rest of the way back (and using no chambered anything in-line -- all straight-through resonators/mufflers) and a 4" cutout wherever you can fit it (ideally in front of the big muffler & roughly in-line with the exhaust path before a bend). you can still get relatively quiet with the large-case mufflers... especially after deleting the spare & running it crossways.

for reference, my car's running dual 3" back to the axle then necks down to dual 2.5 cutouts & mufflers... and still makes near 700 to the wheels with a 5.7

Probably gonna spit and push to get the resonators to fit.

The passenger side should have just enough space and the driver side will be a little more interesting but those ultra quiets aren't giant so we will see. Spare was deleted in the first week I owned the truck and that's where Big Honkey sits now. Whenever that thing rusts out or blows out ill experiment with making a true 4" quiet but until then Ill just neck it down and lose the HP when I want to drive in peace.

Missed this. I haven't seen it but now I'm interested and in the land of catbacks $700 is not expensive considering a lot of them are over 1k
Some of the more basics are 500 ish but magnaflow makes a real nice setup so being a little more than the absolute cheapest on the market is good in my book.

Edit: looked on the website, everything is $900 plus on their website. Maybe it's cheaper elsewhere. But a 4" system is great no matter how you cut it and the price is competitive. Like you said it can be done cheaper but if you're low on time due to making money it makes far more sense to just buy it.

I could swear it was 7 something a few months ago. No idea where though. I really think I'm correct at least but maybe I've gotten even dumber since then...

I only looked on the website, where prices will be the highest. So it's likely it can be had cheaper.
