317 or ls6 heads

Default 317 or ls6 heads

im running 317s on my 6.0 wondering if i should go with the ls6 heads or should i pull my 317s and have the machine shop build better heads with bigger valves and would it be cheaper then buying stage 2 heads

317/243's are identical . . . except for the combustion chamber. Unless you're getting the Z06 243s, they're the same.

oh alright im just going to pull those 317s and mill them down .30 bump up the compression alittle bit

Milling the heads .030 is going to put your compression at what? And the intake is still going to line up good with taking that much off?

Milling the heads .030 is nothing, and the intake will fit fine. The pushrod length is the main thing to consider.

yeah it all lines up just gotta break out the tool to measure the pushrods should bump the compression to 10.5to1 maybe more

i wonder if i take 706 heads off my 4.8 it will do to my 6.0 i know it wont flow as good but that will bump the compression

If its on an LQ4, it'll be a lot closer to 10:1

yea thats what it was i thinking how much you think i can mill down and still keep the 7.4 pushrods
