383 stroker
I been throwing around quite a few ideas for the engine bay and was either gonna do a 6.0 swap or buy a 383 stroker kit and have the work done to my truck but figured it would run around $3000 for parts labor and to have the block bored and put together. I came across a website while shopping ebay and I found a company that sells short block 383's with a complete and balanced eagle rotating assembly for $1700. This seems to be a good deal, I just wanted some input from the gallery as far as the quality of the components used in this setup and if you think I would be able to run a properly tuned 150 shot or run moderate boost on this set up later down the road, around 8-10psi. I was thinking of going with 64cc heads with 10.9-1 CR. for NA performance http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/383-C...QQcmdZViewItem

A copmlete eagle forged rotating assembly will run you 2200. IMO I wouldnt mess with it cause they skimped on parts somewhere to get that price. Old saying goes you get what you pay for. It seems to have good parts in it but personally I would go with forged internals. 383 idea is nice though you could definately make some good power.

sbc=small block chevy that block looks like a genI block lsX motors are genIII blocks. lsX motors are the newer designed engine that first came out in the corvettes in 97 or 98 I believe i.e. teh 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 5.7 and now there is the ls2 series engines that are even better. That would explain why the cost is so much cheaper than I would expect cause you can pretty much double your money to build an engine when its going to be a lsX motor over a traditional engine.
