Default 383 Stroker Kit Ideas

I am looking to convert a 1979 350 (two actually) into 383 strokers. I'm looking for a reasonably priced kit that has a focus on lower RPM torque vs high RPM HP... does anyone have any good suggestions?

My bro in law has done a TON of thses 383 strokers...
He gets his kits from Summit Racing, I think he uses a lot of Eagle components.
As far as RPM range, I think your cam/gear/stall are gonna dictate that.

Ok, thanks!

I found the following kits...

If I were to go with one of these, what other parts might I need? (considering the engines are in good working order now) Also, when did GM switch from the single to 2 pc rear main seal?

I'm somewhat new at this.

GM went to the one-piece rear main seal in 1986.

There are plenty of reasonably priced stroker kits available in the one-piece seal configuration now, but if you still can only swing the cost of one of the two-piece seal cranks or just come across a heal of a deal on one, there are two-piece seal adapters available to run the older style cranks in the newer one-piece seal blocks.

That kit from Jegs looks pretty good but I think ive seen the same kit on Summit cheaper with the hypereutectic pistons... I could be wrong.

If your going thru the build now, you might as well refresh whatever you can... all the seals, freeze plugs etc etc. Im sure they have kits for that. The kits come with all the bearings so thats good.

Get yourself a good intake/heads/carb combo and you should be getting some REALLY good power out of that 383. A BIG carb isnt always a good thing. 600-650 ive seen my bro inlaw use is sometimes more than enough.

Build it right, now, so you dont have to worry about it later.
