Default 4.3 to 6.0 swap with 5 speed. Help!!!!!

Hi everybody, I'm kinda new to the site. I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 with a 4.3 and a 5 speed. Unfortunately for me, it's my daily driver. I thought I had valid information, so I dove in and tore my 4.3 out along with the 5 speed. I tried putting the 4.3 flywheel on, and to my suprise, the center holes in the flywheel didn't line up with the holes in the engine. Everything was the same but that. Has anybody on here successfully done a 6.0 swap with the stock 5 speed transmission? Please help if so. I don't really want to turn around and put the 4.3 back in, but I'll have to if I can't figure this out soon. No car to get around in otherwise, and it's getting a little cold for my bike. Thanks.

I'm not sure but i dont think the 6.0s come w/ manual trans. The good thing is i heard that manual to automatic is easier than automatic to manual. So u may have to get a slush box.

I'm trying to find a way to mate it all up. I have the 4.3 5 speed transmission and if I had to get a 6.0 flywheel, I don't know if the 4.3 clutch would work on it so that I can continue to use the 5 speed. Also, was having a problem with the motor mounts, but I think I have that figured out. I had 2500 motor mounts and I needed 1500 mounts.

What do those new GTO's with the 6-speed have in 'em again?

(Jj) I know some guys that go stroker on the GTO's use an iron block from a truck as a foundation for their LS1/LS2. It might be as simple as getting a flywheel from a GTO and maybe an UD pulley to match an LSX engine to keep everything spinning right. I'm not sure about the UD pulley, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong there.

just get a flywheel for an LS series engine, and a matching clutch, they should work just fine with your 5 speed. however, you will be leaving one bolt out of the top of the bellhousing, because it is a different pattern than the LS motor.

my advice, save up a little extra, and get a T56. that 5 speed is pretty much junk anyways.

Thanks for all your help everybody. Yeah, I know the 5 speed is junk, but I wanted to make it work for a little while. From what I hear, it won't last too long anyways. The t56 is what I want to end up with eventually.

there's another guy on here that did the same swap. Seeing how you're new, use the search up top.

I think that he ended up using a f-body clutch/pressure plate/ and fly wheel. A LS7 setup is pretty much the same, but with an improved clutch.

Your 2000 engine might also have a longer crank. Again the search up top will help. 99-00 had the longer crank, there's no getting around it.

Take some pics while your doing the swap . . . it'll help the next guy.
