Default 4.3???

I have the 4.3 liter v6 in my truck (silverado 1500 2000) and I haven't seen much at all about them on this page. Does no1 mess with this motor or automatically take it out and put a bigger one in? I would like to make this truck faster but I have a limited budget to do it with. It is a 5spd and I already have an exhaust and intake on it. Any help would be nice or advise.
thanks

well in all seriousness i believe those engines work pretty well with smaller shots, say 50 or 75 provided they're running cold plugs and 93 gas. Just something to think about considering boltons don't do much for V6s anyway.

I found some headers from JBA and I was going to get a reflashed ECM for Nelson performance to take out the emissions things after I do that I will think about a shot of nitrous.

I don't know why you guys bash on the 6's so much. They can be made to go fast, just like an 8.

For the 4.3, I'd header it, cam it, CAI, and tune it to start with. That's less than $750 if you can do the work yourself. With just those mods you'll beat stock 4.8's, and run with stock 5.3's (as long as the rears are the same; a posi would help your truck tons).

Hope this helps. It takes a little more work and a little more money to make a go-fast V6, but it can be done. I've built two myself - '78 Buick V6 in a Cutlass and an '87 4.3 in a VAN that were both super fast!

it costs so much to make a 4.3 hang with a 4.8 when its cheaper to just buy a 5.3/6.0 and have something to work with. not bashing the 6 ive had 2 of them. they just dont take well to mods like the v8's do

Id say spray it, cam it and the basic bolt ons. Also start saving for the famed 6l swap, because once you've been on this site a couple of weeks, you cant get off, and nothing is fast enough. I wanted my Z-71 to run 14's N/A. Now I'm looking for 12's on motor.
