Its going to need a lot of converter and gear, it can be done but the power will be way up in the powerband. Hell, I ran a 3600 converter with a stock 4.8 and it worked well, now I have a 221 duration .558 lift cam and I want at least a 4000. Ideally I'd want a 4400 stall and 4.30 gears with my setup; throw in some rod bolts and let that bastard scream.....that is if I keep the motor. I love 4.8's but they are gutless in the mid range and are better suited to smaller cams, I'm beginning to think turbo is the only way to go with these little motors.

Put a 3200 converter in that truck and a 4.10 and you will be fine. It will be a blast to drive regardless. Bigger is not always better, however you are not shoving a monster bump stick in it. Remember, it is a 4.8 and not going to be a power house, good luck with it and have fun.

Before I put the cam in was a 13.8. After I did the cam I ran it on a break in tune in street trim at about 2-300 lb heavier and ran 13.7 and that was with a 2.0 60 foot, I did pick up a couple mph though.

you might want to go a little smaller for a dd. i've ran a 221 .558 lunati for 3 yrs and love it. i don't dd it, but it wouldn't be to bad if i did. my cam loved the 4.56 gears.
TR220 112lsa would probably work w/ some 4.10's.
