Default 4.8+226 Cam ???'s

I have a 04 RST 5 speed that I love to death but it could use a little more power. I have a old 226/226 .585 .585 on 112 lsa that I had in my old 2002 SS Camaro that I'd love to stick in it along with a new set of pushrods and some 918's. My tuner said that cam would be good but I keep reading about smaller cams in the 4.8's?? Yay or nay with this thing? Also have ls1 efans and a udp going on also

The 4.8 doea not have the compression or the cubes to support that cam.

So smaller? The tuner said he's done a 4.8 with a 224 did well as the 218ish trucks. So should I look into a tr220? Or maybe just a 6.0 swap lol

Yeah I figured that. Just got the line on a new iron ls1 shortblock so I'll probably go that route and just sell the 4.8!

In my old 4.8 I had the 224 cam and it was too much. yes it sounded great and ran rly good from 3800 to 6500 but i had to put a 3800 stall circle d behind it to help, way too radical for a daily driver and not the right setup for racing either. If ur just wanting gnarly burnouts and to turn headds pulling into parking spaces go for it but not practical, trust me!! that cam in a 5.7 will be sweet!

I've got a 219/227 in my 4.8 with a 3200stall and it's a beast compared to the tr220 I had in it before. Way more low end and tons of top end
