Default 4.8 to 5.3 swap

hello newby here. was needing some guidance on a 5.3 i'm putting in my truck. It's a 2000 and has a 4.8 with dual exhaust(high flow cats) and 44# injctors with a westers tune ,the truck is a 5 speed std.The 5.3 i've got is out of a 2002, from the what i'm reading i have the long crank beeing a std so is this 5.3 going to work.I think it's the same but not sure???Also i've got about 1000.00 bucks left over and was woundering what the best mod/s to do to this 5.3 before i drop it in? Help!!

This truck is a 5 speed std.I guess i need to know what kind of cam to get for this 5.3 that won't require alot of other purchases...i'm lookin for good towing power and something that will make good use of these 44# injectors that i got. Also will it be a strait swap between these two motors or is there a difference. thx again

Ok just got off phone with local builder. said that for the budget minded modster, you can hog (port/polish) out the stock 243 castings on both intake and exhaust sides and get a mild cam. Does anyone know of someone or have themselves a cam that would be good for towing and D.D but would still give significant gains over stock 5.3 for sale? would like to keep lobe seperation over 114 degrees in case want to maggie it latter. thx for any help

i highly doubt you have 243 castings if its a 02 motor, also 44# injectors are to large

Since you already have the 5.3, start tearing it down and open up your pocket book... Get a stroker crank and bore it out to the 5.7's 99mm bore and end up with an engine worthy of those 44# injectors. Either that, or sell them because they're going to waste on a tiny 5.3, even with a cam swap... Unless you run a 250 shot of N2O or go SC'ed or something.

thx for reply fella's. I used to have this truck supercharged for very short time with a jet technologies centrifigule s.c but the unit wasn't reliable so sent it back to manufacturer for waranty/refund and havn't heard back from him in over a year.(guess who's the sucker!) anyways thats why i got the 44#ers. So with the mods i'm talkin about mild cam and stock head porting, you think 44# would go to waste? i can't afford to stroke this motor so i'm starting here, will my computer out of my 2000 4.8ltr work with the new 5.3?
