4.8 to 6.0
I have a 02 gmc sierra with 4.8 an 4l60e 2wd an I have a full 6.0 swap out of 06 Silverado with 4l80e has harness an ecu an all acc. my question is will this just go right in being different years or do I need some wiring work an what else will I need. As of now the truck is my dd an don't want to be down for long time. Thanks for any help

as long as the 6.0 is a Gen III motor (2x knock sensors in the valley cover) then it will fit with ZERO modifications.
I swapped an '04 Gen III motor into my 2001 chassis and the only thing I had to keep from the old engine was the oil pressure sending unit because the electrical plug changed.
Here are some recommendations for the swap:
- Drain all coolant from engine in a safe area very near to where you will do the swap, then drive the truck to your swap parking spot. This way you don't get coolant all over your swap work area.
- Remove intake manifold before pulling old engine, this frees up access to the top tranny bell-housing bolts.
- The AC compressor and PS pump do not have to be disconnected from the hoses, just unbolt them from the engine and lay aside. This way you do not have to refill for Freon and PS fluid, etc.
- Be very careful not to break the heater hose quick connect couplings at the passenger side firewall when pulling the engine out or putting the new engine in.
