also id suggest getting som WCCH/Edelbrock 4.8/5.3 casting CNC-ported heads and milling them to bump up yoru compression.
id say a cam around a 212/218 or a 216/220 hi-lift versions

I have a 4.8l and I installing a 212/218 (265/271) .558/.563 115LSA with LS6 springs, ASP under drive crank pulley and overdrive alt pulley. and getting a 145 amp alt. while im in there. The cam is by comp and it is recommended by a lot of people, and ive heard good things about it so I found a used one and eventually I will get a stall and hopefully get some decent times at the 1/4. As long as this motor doesnt go, I amgoing to keep it as the gas mileage is a lot better than a 6.0 and its a nice little V8. Later.
