Default 400rwhp Lq4?

Hello,

I'm posting this for a friend who's computer is in for repairs. He has a 67 LeMans that he is researching swapping in an LQ4 into. He is wondering what it would take to obtain 400 RWHP N/A minimum with a stock short block 2002 LQ4 and a 4L60E? He doesn't want to mess with Nitrous or S/C. What cam, heads, converter, injectors, etc would you recommend. Would it be possible with stock heads? He will be running true 2 1/2" dual exhaust from the headers on back. Reasonable lope would be encouraged.

Thanks,
Kevin C

he can run a fairly radical cam actually, the only reason the truck guys don't is becasue the power band goes up and in a truck you need all the low end you ccan get. I would think something around 230 duration on a 112 or 113 lsa. you will probably need atleast a mild port job to get to 400, also do you want 400 to the rw or crank?

My last 6 liter had an LS6 cam, stage 2 TEA heads and 8psi of boost and it made 404 at the wheels. I wanna see him make a daily driver with that kind of power and no power adder. Not saying it cant be done, but it wont be a friendly motor when its done

Since he has a 3300lb car the easiest way is H/C and a 402/408/422 etc. engine and headers should do the trick. There is no substitution for Cubic Inches to make N/A horsepower.
