Default 408 Exhaust too loud ... Add mufflers?

Right now I'm running 1 3/4" pacesetters with a 3" collector. Then its 3" to a dual inlet magnaflow with a single 4" output over the axle to the rear of the truck. The magnaflow case length is 22" but it sure doesn't sound like it. The cab is horribly loud and I'm looking for ways to quiet it down.

I have about 15 1/2" in the crossover pipe that goes from the drivers side to passengers side that I could stick a muffler in. The passenger side is a long strait section strait back to the muffler. So I can easily stick another muffler right there as well. What are your guys' thoughts on running two mufflers in front of the magnaflow?

Two mufflers inline is the perfect solution if you can fit them.

I would really like to keep my built 4" exit over the axle so that is why I was thinking mufflers before the magnaflow. Would glass packs do the job? that is the only thing I can fit before the magnaflow muffler.

**** would be two corsa mufflers so I wouldn't have to run a single 3" exhaust. Seems like I would lose some horsepower if I choked the 408 down that much. But the Corsa's look too big to run dual 3" corsas.

@oakley, I have the same muffler as you as you, however mine is turned around. I have the 1 7/8 tubes with a 4in Y pipe entering the muffler, then I ran the 2 single 3in out back and dumped them by the licence plate. It is not loud untill u smash on it, now granted I have an only bolt on 5.3.. Must be the extra cubes stall and cam makeing more sound or the fact that u have it turned around??? I don't know.

I think if u installed 2 3in dynomax bullets or something equal before your muffler it would work great, also I think u can get them at a decent price.

The problem I have is I need to find a muffler that is shorter than 16". So we will see what I can find. If it still is too loud for my liking, I will have to go the corsa route. Again I'm just worried about choking the system with a single 3"

I might be able to weld those mufflers in next weekend. I'll update the thread with a before and after.

Here ya go man,
Summit racing - pn# SUM-630810 $22.95
bullet muffler 12in case length. 18in overall.
There is 3in on either side of the muffler u can cut to make it fit, it will work.

Throw a couple 14" dynomax's up front there.
