Default 408 is finally in - got a problem.

Well, got it all in - finally. Got everything hooked up and wanted to give a turn, without the coils hooked up, to get some oil pumped through a little. A rec. by my engine builder. Anyway, when I tried to turn it over, nothing happened.

Not entirely true. First of all, all the lights worked, the remote, didn't attempt the stereo, but I think it would have worked fine also. I turned the key, I hear the fuel system charge and my pumps hum, a good sign since I have done a lot in that area (injectors, new injector harnesses, new dual fuel pumps). Turned the key to the start position and the headlights go out and nothing happens.

It was getting late and I called it quits for the night. I am almost certain that I have an electrical/ignition problem somewhere. Or, a ground. I briefly checked things and could not find anything blaringly wrong.

I have done nothing with a new tune, as of yet. It still has the same tune in it from when I spun my cam bearings.

I will start tomorrow with pulling the starter and making sure it's okay, then start checking for grounds.

I have a feeling it's something easy. What do you guys think?

sounds like maybe you blew a fuse.

that happend to me when messing with my starter, and i think the heat shield on it touched the wire, and caused a short. It blew the ignition fuse. May want to get a test light and touch the top metal prong thing (on top of the fuse), and make sure they are all working.

good luck

Battery volatge was 12.5V. Checked with a meter. It has been on a trickle charger for the last month and a half. I also attempted a jump from another vehicle - same thing.

I'm with Deckhand, also the starter is hooked up right? You said you checked for blaringly wrong things, but I've overlocked sillier things than that before.

The starter only has two wires, right? One of them is huge, the other is pretty small. Unless they are touching somehow? I was going to check fuses tonight, but I was just too tired. Will do that first tomorrow.

The best way to test the battery is to check the voltage when your tring to crank it. A battery can have 12v with no load but drop to almost nothing under load.

Ya beat me to it. We missed a ground strap on the driver's side when we put my motor in. It just wouldn't catch but would turn over until the battery gave in.

Recheck all your grounds, I think that there are 2 or 3.

Did you try the security override. Putting the key to on waiting 10 minutes try to start. I did it like 4 times then it started. I had the same type of problem.
