408 stroker HELP
hi guys building a 408 stroker. Im confused about compression. Using 243 heads and a weisco carrillo stroker kit. If im driving this on the street, They say i have to keep it down to 10.5 to 1. I dont understand why not 11 to 1. something about the octane. Thanks for any help

I was talking to some engine builders last week, and the consensus was that the GM GenIII engines can squeak out a little more compression on the street. You have to look at the camshaft profile also, as a cam with more overlap will have a natural EGR effect and therefore have lower cylinder temps, and also allow for (and sometimes require) more compression.

Their not reverse flow. They dont have water flowing through the intakes anymore . If you hold the top hose youll feel that it gets hot from the engine end first same as before.
