429hp/425 ft-lbs from a COMPLETELY STOCK LS1 !!
No...I'm not kidding
It was on an engine dyno at Westech performance.....Stock bore and stroke, Stock cam, 1 3/4" Hooker headers, Wilson fuel rails @ 52psi, and an electric waterpump.....assuming 17% loss through the drivetrain that's still 360hp at the tires !!!
Read about it here -----> http://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0409phr_gmpp/
The article is primarily talking about the GMPP Carburetor Manifold for the LS1....but to get a baseline before the install they dyno'd the engine completely STOCK and came up with 429hp/425ft-lbs !!! (somehow I think GM under-rates these things *just* a little), after the manifold/carb/HOT cam install they pulled 503hp/449ft-lbs out of it !!!.....not too shabby
Oh...and notice that the carb made ALMOST EXACTLY the same power as the stock EFI setup.....who says carbs are useless

Does the article mention what correction factors they used. OE's use different ones that most dynos and dyno operators? Technically you could correct any engine to make 429hp if you use the right correction factors (baro, atmospheric pressure, temp, etc.)

I'm not saying it ain't true, but I personally find it damn hard to believe for a STOCK motor. Factory freak? I don't know. It's just hard to believe with all the other tons of dyno runs out there that say a stock LS1 runs 300-310 whp (about 375 chp). As for carbs, yes they can do magic things, but EFI is almost aways better in terms of throttle response and efficiency. This shouldn't take anthing away from what was done.

I'm with Teekay,
I don't doubt them. They say stock but they don't tell you how meticulous that motor was put together which can add plenty of power when every little thing is taken into account, not just wether it works or not.
On my Mustang i rebuilt the motor 3 times. On the 3rd time it was like magic. I went from 11.90s on slicks to 11.89 on street tires and lifting. LOL

Remember guys......this is a BRAND NEW motor that is on an ENGINE DYNO, it has NO waterpump, a/c, power steering, or alternator to cause parasitic drag, it is using the best possible exhaust configuration for power (open LT's), it has no air-intake to cause possible power loss, NO transmission, and has a very custom tune to run it all......this is NOT what you would see in a stock vehicle
The reason I posted this is because I thought it was interesting that they got 429hp out of a stock heads/cam crate motor......I'd love to see them do the same with a 6.0 to see wht it'll put out without all of the accessories and stuff

The engine also had LS1edit on it which should help out also. Still very impressive.
EDIT: I couldnt imagine what the new LS2 would put down with all of the above. Just something to think about.
