i have a 99 about like yours. I have ported the heads, and installed a 212/218 comp cam. Also have headers and 36# injectors. Truck runs great when i can get traction, but i regret not installing a bigger cam. Soon i will be swaping cams again and adding a 3000 rpm triple disk stall. It is tuned by wait4me but i recomend you use someone else.

now that u got the fuel issue buttoned up, id look into headers and a dual 3" exhaust. that big block needs to breathe.

forgot to mention what all i've done since purchasing:

-Dual Magnaflow Exhaust (left cats forward alone for now)
-all new fluids
-axle seals, output shaft seal, tranny, transfer case, diff all serviced
-all new brakes
-complete tune up w/ new plugs/wires/distr/cap/rotor

So who can dyno tune these things for future reference? My buddies w/ HP Tuners say they can't interface w/ the PCM on anything but LS based engines including the 5.3/6.0/8.1 but not my 454. Once i do cam/heads/headers i'll need a tune.

Also, any intake options for this engine? Mine has a hairline crack at the front pass side bolt hole. I don't think its hurting anything but if i ever take it all apart...

Thanks guys!

my buddy Drew (known as cajun4x4) and his brother both have gmt400 7.4l powered ccsb 4x4s. Drew recently did a straight front axle swap and an ord shackle flip on the rear. I think he said theres some good 7.4 info on fullsizechevy. you could PM him on gmfs and ask

just found out my buddy's at v8muscle can tune it...so now i may be brave enough to go headers...then maybe heads/cam down the road. I know this engine has a lot of potential.

as far as I know aluminum heads will bolt up, but the intake manifold has LONG runners designed for torque. You could make aweseome power with this engine but It would take some work IMO I would keep the CAI do a tune, headers and full exhaust and ride out!
