GM has beefed them up over the years and the newest version 4L65E seems to hold up well in the Silverado SS and other apps.

There is still alot of room for improvement though. I think the 4L80E or a totally redesigned smaller 80E power handling capable trans should be in every vehicle over 4000lbs with a V8.

The TH350 and TH400 have grown into great transmissions over the years unfortunately they don't have overdrives which I don't know if I could live without anymore.
Thanks for the info. Mine,in present form, doesn't have enough to hurt it,I guess. Thought I read on here that they were good for 450hp.

I would call them good for 350. The 60e and 65e are basically the same thing. They both leave a lot of room to make up in a performance application. They are great light weight transmissions but they just don't have the guts that 80e does. I've been running this bone stock 80e with a converter for a while now. I've literally beat the living hell out of it and it's still holding up very well.

The 700r4 is basically the same thing as the 60e, the only real difference is the valve body is completely electronically controlled. Many of the internals are interchangable. Same goes for the 80e and TH400.

As for the original problem ... I would say it's time for a shift kit. If you're bone stock, I dont think there is much need for a performance transmission. If you are in the market though ... I can hook you up! I see you're close to me so we wouldn't have to play the shipping game either.

BTW ... check your PM's.
