Default 4L60E Different in a 99 vs a 01??

I just looked into replacing my 4L60E (blew it up pretty good this last weekend) and can get a replacement one fairly cheap (zero miles). However the 01 shows up as a different part number. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable? I would guess yes, but I need to be sure. Any ideas?

Did this come from a Gen III motor or an older 305/350 Vortec? I ask as GM went to a 33 spline input shaft with the newer motors as opposed to the older 30 spline...at least that is what I am led to believe.

No, my 99 is a 5.3L. The new trans will come with a torque converter, so that won't matter too much anyway. I was told that it is very possible that the part number changed (as it did again from 01 to 02) because they could have possibly upgraded or changed parts in the transmission. I just ordered the 01, since it has no miles on it and a 1 year warranty on parts/labor. I'll let you know if it actually is different.

Should be okay.

The older 96-99 5.7/5.0 stuff is 30 spline and is the same trans (I think) as a 93-97 f-body.

The 01 is out of a 01 Silverado tear down with no miles on it. It was a surplus stock vehicle that was purchased off GM. I found out that every year the tranny part number changes for traceability. Therefore, it should fit fine. I'll have it in next weekend.

Was it a good deal?

I heard that the 4l65E can handle more torque and abuse stock, I heard it was overengineered due to the original motor specs of the GTO which called for like 400 ft lbs of tq.

Oh and flush your lines out, if you lost clutches then crap is floating thru the lines... Are you putting in a new converter too?
