Default 4L65e

Anybody heard of this yet? I read a little on the new SS and the specs listed the tranny as a 4L65e. Typo?

Yeah, It's just a slightly beefed up version of the 4L60E. GM's answer to our auto overdrive strength problem. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I'm not sure what the ratings are for it. I think I know where to find out though. I'll look for it tomorrow sometime if I get a chance. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

i talked to chuck at FLP, he said the 5 is for the 5 pinion planets that the trannys have, he didn't tell me any other diferences. he also indicated that the trannys he has been building weren't failing with the 4 pinion planets but that with a heavy truck and alot of power that they would add a little extra insurance. he also told me that he has only put them in one tranny so far.

Here is the GM powertrain page about the 4L60E/4L65E (M30/M32) respectively. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

hey wisemen
could you swap the tranny to a 5.3l?
i may get a truck and ditch the nissan(damn epa)
and since the tranny can handle more power and torque i think it would be ideal to swap the weak for the strong
let me know what you think
