boy all this talk about 65e's and 80e's. im running a 150 shot with an ext cab and i am snapping output shafts like pretzels. i am going to an 80e this time. i think that an output shaft isnt the builders fault--unless they do not install what was suppose to be in there--but either a weight to power ratio or just bad parts. the 60e commands around 26hp to turn. and 80e will command around 70hp to turn. hence i will go with a bigger shot maybe. but it is going to be a built 4l80 and i beleive that it should last for the life of the truck. as for the crossmember i am going to use a 2500hd member and drill the frame.

If you change to a 80 what about the transfer case in my ss will it bolt up or will you have to go with a case out of a 80 trans and have to wire it up to go 4wd? Yes I broke my 65 last week and I am thinking of what to do also.

as far as i know no one has figured out an ss 4l80e swap. you could do it but you will have to go with the tcase from an HD truck. you would be "locked" in then rather than the slipcase you have now.
i know there were several people looking to do a swap so maybe someone figured out what needs to be done to keep the awd tcase.

Hi Eric, our part # is GEA 19019. I believe that the OEM GM # is 12386258. This input is available for $106.00 + $11 S/H = $117.00.
We accept paypal,
Visa/MC/Disc/Amex (call toll free 866-847-5051 or 800-776-1191 ext. 79), money order, check (must include drivers license # and issuing state with check), and cash (at your own risk).

What do you think the labor to change the input shaft in the transfer case would be. What do I need to do to the 80 to handle around 600 hp at the flywheel. Thanks

my tranny went out at 600+rwhp but i believe it was due to the lock up clutch failure in the converter. if you plan on locking up the converter at WOT you need a good clutch set up.
