On the 4WD conversion, I'm assuming that you will offer the 4WD crossmember and driveshafts once you get them built? Also, on the T-case input gear, how much disassembly of the tranfer case is required, i.e., is it just a relatively quick bolt-on adapter, or will we need to take the case most of the way apart?

Thanks,
Kipp

Does anyone know if the stock 1500 transfer case will hold up to 4x4 lanches with a 500+ hp engine??

Yeah I was coming home from the movies one night on a road they wrere working on. The shaved the asphalt down to pave a new layer on. Well as I come around a bend in the road and wham there it was. So it was hit it head on with a new 20s or try to high side. So you can see what I choose and whamo. It even closed part of my crossver pipe up. The dummy light start going off from the whipple. Luckly other than the crossmember and exhaust cross pipe all I popped was a header gasket thankfully.

As far as the capability of the 1500 transfer case, I believe the Autotrac case is the NV 246, correct? Is so, then New Venture Gear's site lists its max torque as 2281 ft-lbs. For comparison, I'm pretty sure the 2500s get one of the following cases: NV 261 (2564 ft-lbs.), NV 261 HD (5430 ft-lbs.) or the NV 263 HD (5430 ft-lbs.). Anyone know which case the 2500s actually have?

These are max. capacity torque ratings, according to the web site. I'm assuming that means that there is some calculation involved in getting to input engine torque. . . Probably have to account for transmission gearing, torque converter efficiency, and torque lost due to transmission . . . also bet that the max. capacity number is based on the vehicle being loaded to its maximum gross vehicle weight.

Anyone have any idea on how to back out the max. input engine torque?

Yep we have never done a 4wd. So i dont know all the lengths of drivelines or the crossmember for that matter. If anyone local wants to do one. I will do the labor for free just to get all the lengths down.

ecthelion has a good point. Now that we can do the swap how much can the T-Case hold before needing to upgrade to the heavy duty one.
