I think the input shaft/stub of the AutoTrac is what needs to be changed. I'm sure it can be done but I don't know how hard it'd be to find that specific piece. You will have to take the entire case apart to do this. I'd say it'd take ya about a day.

Who could I talk to that would know how to change this input shaft on the autotrack so that it would fit an 80? The idea of the 80 swap would be a lot more palatable if I didn't have to find a HD autotrack to go with it. Ideas?

why don't you call the above business- Alaska Transmissions and Gear, and ask a guy named Randy. I think he is the owner. My friend called them and handed me the phone(when I was askign about tranny re-builds), and I think that guy owns it. He was pretty cool. Worth a shot

Yeah I was going to recommend a big tranny/driveline outfit. There's a few on ebay I'd try as they sell nothing but tranny parts.
