As long as you have to take it down that far it's also a good idea to replace the separator plate with the TransGo hardened one and make the shift kit modifications to that one. The checkballs in 4L80-Es are known to wear out the stock plate, eventually a ball can become lodged in a hole. There are a few upgrades in the kit that are pump modifications or internal upgrades. These can only be done if the transmission is torn down for rebuild, so they can be skipped.
There is a lot of talk on here about switching out the line pressure boost solenoid with a vacuum modulated one. Unless you are running a turbo charger this is not needed, here's why: With a naturally aspirated or supercharged engine the amount of torque the engine is putting out is fairly consistent for a given rpm and throttle position. Because a turbo spools independently of engine rpm there can be a variable range of torque output for a given throttle position and engine RPM. This is about the only setup a vacuum modulated boost valve might be more effective than a properly programmed stock electronic one.
While you are at it, I like this:
Part number 70295 GM 4L80E (adds 3 qt.)
