Maybe a new filter would be in order too. I reused my gasket twice with no problems so far.

seriously though, the Hughes pan comes with a new gasket and filter, I will see if they are quality pcs.

Yes I guess the filter would need to be properly sized to fit the depth of the pan. The stock gasket does appear to be a very good piece but may not be designed properly to fit the Hughes pan.
