i think most of you 4x4 guys are launching in 4 hi and changing to 2 hi around 60'.my question is are all of you that are doin that have the push button 4x4.my 4x4 is on the floor but i think it still works the same way but you just pull the lever instead of pushing a button.its all run by an electric actuator right?was just wondering if i could do it?also dont know how much stress my manual trans will take doing this either.any thoughts?

Well I have no wheel spin in 2Hi, so I wouldn't launch in 4Hi but...depending on your power levels, I'd probably shift it out of 4Hi into 2Hi around the shift from 1-2. The more power the further down the track you'd need to shift out.
Your transfer case should still be a shift-on-the-fly case and should pose no problems shift in and out at speeds.
Be careful speed demoning with that 5 speed, I heard that they are not too strong with power. For sure no high reving and clutch dumps in 4Hi.

i think a number of guys launch on 4wd. i know parish does. he still roasts the tires at the tree. i just had a TC installed and there is no way i can launch in 2wd. i loose traction at 1/2 throttle. hopefully i can launch 2wd WOT when my eaton posi goes in

launching in 4x4 is great and gives you a nice 60' time. I would think that depending on your power level that as soon as you tires would normally hook in 2hi(providing you've run the 1/4 before and know where this is on the track) That is the point that I would shift from 4hi to 2hi because you know your going to be getting traction or maybe a split second after would be good. Don't know never been to the track with my truck!
