Can a 5.3 be bored out to 4.000"? Planning my next build up and I don't want to buy a new block if I don't have to. thanks

The most I have seen is .120 over that would bring it up to a 5.7L or bore would be 3.899 = 99.05mm. Stroke is 96.12mm = 3.78.

Stock bore is 96.01mm and stroke is 92mm. The stroke is the same for the 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 motors.

Are the 5.3 and 6.0 completely different castings? Does the 5.3 have sleeves or water passages that limit bore size? I just want 4.000" bore and would like to use what I already have. If not I guess I have a spare for the wife's Tahoe.

people in the car section are using the iron 6.0 blocks like crazy now, it seems to be the new hot ticket, a 5.3 seems to be worth prety much nothing, that right there tells me you can't bore it to 4.00.

get a 6.0 and bore it to 4.040, thats what alot of people are doing now, along with a 4" stroker crank or bigger <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> makes for a bullit proof moter that can take alot of abuse.
