Question 5.3 Heads on a LQ4? Enough HP difference???

Been looking and seen where some people have been putting 5.3 heads on and getting a lot of HP. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? Please let me know your thoughts. I have seen a bunch of posts but no real answers.

Check the internal engine section and you should find some info, Zippy did this to the LQ4 in his wife's Tahoe. I believe that the biggest benefit is the bump in compression ratio

Correct. Would it be worth the time?

IMO no, because you will have to cut the heads for bigger valves and put new valves in.

Do LS1 heads if you're looking for a cheap gain of sort. Talking with my tuner at the dyno today he said the slight bump in compression is minimal but they are breathing well. Well enough that I justified it personally.

Are you talking about just putting some bone stock ones on there? Or would they need to be milled? If so what did you mill them?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the 5.3 heads have smaller combustion chambers, so you wouldn't need to mill them as they'll raise the compression as is, but they have smaller valves than the 6.0, so you would benefit from swapping bigger valves in for more flow. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and feel free to post up combustion chamber and valve sizes for future reference
